When Atheists Play With Demons

Written/Director: David Jung

Starring: Shane Johnson, Ella Anderson, Cara Pifko

Summary: When Michael’s wife dies after receiving some shitty advice from a psychic, he decides he’ll show everyone that there’s no such thing as God or the Devil by making a documentary of his research. He’s an atheist so his “Doubting Thomas” attitude leads him to attempt at demonic possession by tracking self-proclaimed demonologists and necromancers. At first he thinks it’s all bullshit, until unexplainable things start happening. Has his grief pushed him over the edge or has he finally found the proof he’s been looking for?

If you don’t know by now, I absolutely love learning about the Paranormal. I’m one of those who believes in ghosts and demons. It’s always been a fascinating topic for me so I always like to keep my eye out for movies that deal with the paranormal like The Conjuring series.

This was a nice change in pace rom the standard “oh I’m going to play with a Ouija board, oops I summoned a demon” plot. This guy is actually WANTS to be possessed! He WANTS to have this horrible thing done to him! Of course, since he doesn’t believe in the paranormal, he doesn’t think there is a danger to dabbling in the occult. It especially tickled me pink when all these paranormal things were happening and he finally believes in the supernatural, that he turns to God to save him. Isn’t that how it always works?

I enjoyed it and I’ll give it an 8/10. It wasn’t the greatest horror film I’ve seen Anchor Bay Films put out but it was pretty cool and a little scary.

What do you think? Have any of you seen this one yet?
