A Bittersweet Last Supper With “Hannibal”

0

Well my fellow Fannibals, we have reached our last supper with our beloved Cannibal Doctor and his Empathic Disciple.

Of course the main thing EVERYONE is gonna talk about is the ending where Hannibal and Will take down the Great Red Dragon with a knife and a hatchet. It was a gruesome and bloody dance but once the Red Dragon was defeated Will has a revelation. “You’re right, it does look black in the moonlight…”

That was in reference to the comment Hannibal made about how blood looks black in the moonlight. Anyway, Will comes to the realization that Bedelia was right. He can’t live without Hannibal and he can’t go home to his wife and stepson. So what does he do? He takes a swan dive off the cliff taking Hannibal with him. That scene really reminded me of Thelma & Louise. I’ve heard a lot of people say they thought about Sherlock and Moriarty. The difference is that they weren’t fighting each other. Rather they seemed to just accept their fate and go out together.

Let’s not forget the post credit scene with Bedelia waiting for someone with her leg as the main course. Many Fannibals hope that this is a sign that its not over! Somehow Hannibal and/or Will survived the fall and came back to keep Hannibal’s promise to eat Bedelia. At first I just thought that Bedelia did that to herself because she was so terrified that Hannibal would escape and come for her so she beat him to the punch. Who knows.

According to Bryan Fuller, Hannibal’s story isn’t over until he’s dead. He is still hopeful that another station will pick up the series but with Netflix and Amazon turning down the offer(Fuck You, Amazon and Netflix!!) I’m not sure it’s gonna happen. Maybe a mini-series or movie is in the cards so let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Also can we just talk about Hannigram really quick? I love how Bryan Fuller isn’t afraid to come out and say “Yeah, Hannibal and Will are a thing”. Then you get shows like Sherlock and Supernatural that love to dance around the issue. So suck it, Destiel and Johnlock shippers! Our show actually had the balls to take it a step further!

Another fun fact about this episode is the ending song by Siouxsie Sioux. The title is Love Crime and you’ll be delighted to know that it was made by a Fannibal. That’s right, Siouxsie Sioux loved the show and was inspired to make music for it. Isn’t it amazing how artists can come together and create something amazing.

I can go on for days about how amazing this show is that that it is a mistake to let it go. This show was art so I guess not everyone can appreciate it. Thank you, Bryan Fuller for setting a new standard for good TV and creating such a magnificent and beautifully dark drama.

Here’s a fun video I found that plays to Love Crime by Siouxsie Sioux. It has clips from all the seasons so enjoy!

What a Real Mortal Kombat Fatality Would Look Like!

0

Remember on Monday how I said I wish Raze had some Mortal Kombat moves where you had some gruesome fatalities? Well, I found this awesome video about how gory and bloody a real Mortal Kombat Fatality would look like. There were a couple of times where I cringed and thought “what the hell did I just watch?”.

It was actually pretty cool so check it out!

May The Odds Be In Your Favor In “Raze”

1

Director: Josh C. Weller

Writer: Robert Beaucage, Kenny Gage, Josh C. Weller

Starring: Zoe Bell, Rachel Nichols, Tracie Thoms

Two enter the ring and one comes out! The basic plot to Raze is a secret society of rich people kidnaps women from various backgrounds and various knowledge of fighting. Whether it’s kickboxing classes or MMA training, these freaks want you. Sabrina(Zoe Bell) along with other women are forced to fight to the death for the wealthy’s entertainment. If they don’t fight then their loved ones are killed. If they lose, their loved ones also die. Let the games begin and let the odds be ever in your favor.

I didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would. To tell the truth I fast forward most of it. There were a few things that just bugged me to no end.

The first thing that bothered me: If you don’t fight or if you lose, your loved ones die. Why bother fighting in the first place? Your family or friends are dead anyway.

Second thing that bothered me: Didn’t their family and friends report them missing? Wouldn’t the FBI notice that women with fighting skills going on blind dates then disappear? Also wouldn’t the FBI also notice that the families and friends of the missing women end up dead? Too much of a coincidence….

Third thing that bothered me: There’s no prize at the end of the tournament! No million dollars, no offer to join the secret society, nothing! You’re basically a fighting dog until you die in the ring! Why bother fighting at all?!

Really, in the end you’re only watching this for the fights. You don’t care about the fighters’ sob stories, you really don’t care if they make it or not. Like I said earlier, I fast forwarded the sob story bits. I wasn’t interested and they didn’t make me want to be interested. I kinda wanted some of the sound effects from Mortal Kombat during the fights. Yeah! Finish Her!!

I’m giving this a D

Raising Funds For A Zombie Movie

0

Alrighty y’all! Let’s rally together and help finish a Vancouver based zombie film! It’s been described as a modern twist to the zombie genre with a nostalgic feel. Most people think that once you seen one zombie film you’ve seen them all. You’re probably right but that doesn’t make zombie movies any less entertaining.

Please check the Indiegogo site listed below to donate. Depending the amount you donate, you will be rewarded with a shout out in the credits, a digital copy, a signed DVD, etc! We have 38 days to reach the goal of $10,000 CAD so you better hurry. The last count was $426 CAD.

A New Twist On Vampirism With “Afflicted”

0

Directors/ Writers: Derek Lee, Clif Prowse

Starring: Derek Lee, Clif Prowse, Baya Rehaz

I’ve always imagined that I’d take a trip like this with my best friend. Travel the world, see new things, meet new people, and have fun. But what I don’t want as part of the trip is to be turned into a freaking vampire and possibly massacring my BFF.

Afflicted is about two friends, Derek and Clif, taking a trip around the world and starting a blog to share their adventures with their family and friends. One of the reasons for this trip is because Derek was diagnosed with an incurable illness and figures this could be their last hurrah. While living it up in Spain, Derek hooks up with the mysterious Audrey and find himself falling deeper into an unexplainable illness. An illness where one of the symptoms is craving human blood. What started out as a travel blog turned into a documentation of Derek’s strange affliction and their quest to find a cure.

I have to say that I was impressed with this movie which has won awards for directing, writing, and special effects(see HERE). Instead of portraying vampirism as brooding sex symbols that infest our TV today, Lee and Prowse painted vampires as actual monsters. It wasn’t pretty watching Derek’s transition from dying human to animalistic immortal. Seriously…there was projectile vomit and seizures. At first it started out as fun and games where they discover super speed and super strength but then things turn serious when Derek can’t eat anything without vomiting and the longer he holds out from drinking blood the more he transforms into a feral monster.

I really enjoyed the special effects for this movie. There was one “test” that Derek did where he tested the sunlight on his skin and it was gross! I also applaud the fact that there were times when they actually put the camera down. It isn’t logical to carry a camera and document every little thing. Some scenes they left the camera on a table and you’d just hear a conversation rather than see it. In other scenes they created a vest that held the camera so the person could document what was going on while having their hands free(Chase Out Window Scene).

Anyway I give this movie an A.

Check out the trailer and a clip! hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did.

Dinner Is Coming To An End…Or Is It?

2

I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that NBC has made the worst mistake of it’s existence. They have decided that as brilliant as Hannibal is, they’d rather not continue with it. I’ll never understand why companies do this. You’ve got a critically acclaimed show with brilliant actors and a great plot and you decide “Whatever let’s trash it while the getting is good”?!

It’s almost as if they want to lose viewers. Well, I thought that all hope was lost. Yet another amazing show that got the ax for no reason…until I saw that support from other Fannibals like myself. Carlos Mazal form Uruguay has created on online petition on change.org to save the show. It’s actually received over 67,000 signatures and need 75,000! It’s been mentioned all over twitter with #SaveHannibal. So please be a gem and sign the petition. I’m sure Hannibal won’t make you part of his main course if you do.

Not only are the Fannibals fighting to keep the show but Brian Fuller, the show’s creator, is hopeful that Hannibal will be picked up for another season elsewhere. Can we say Netflix or Amazon? Nothing is set in stone yet but we all need to keep our fingers crossed and hope that we can save this deliciously gory show from the copping block. I really don’t want this dinner party to end. Check below to sign the petition!

Aliens Roaming Around in “Storage 24”

0

Director: Johannes Roberts

Writers: Noel Clarke, Davie Fairbanks, Johannes Roberts, Marc Small

Starring: Noel Clarke, Colin O’Donoghue, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Laura Haddock

Or when Captain Hook steals Mickey Smith’s girlfriend while being chased by a hungry extra-terrestrial.

Anyways, this film is from 2012 and the basic plot is a group of friends are trapped in a storage facility. While they’re trying to find a way out, they realize that E.T. isn’t very friendly. Hopefully everyone can set aside their differences and work together to bring the alien down!

I stumbled upon this movie while channel surfing. The thing that caught my eye were these two names “Noel Clarke” and “Colin O’Donoghue”. I know these two from the shows Doctor who and Once Upon A Time. So I thought, “What the hell. Hopefully it isn’t boring.” I’ll admit, this sounded a bit ridiculous but I was very entertained.

It all starts with Mark(O’Donoghue) and Charlie(Clarke) heading to a storage facility that Charlie and his former girlfriend, Shelley (Campbell-Hughes) shared. Heartbroken over the break up, Charlie pays little attention to the radio announcement about a military plane crashing in London and that the city is on lockdown. While at the facility they bump into Shelley and her friends and start arguing over the “who”, “what”, and “why” about the break up. Once the lights start to flicker and the engineer goes missing, that when things get interesting. They’re now trapped in the storage facility with a CGI/Puppet alien monster that is hellbent on killing them. And then to make it worse, we find out that Mark is Shelley’s “Other Man”.

I loved the concept of this dysfunctional group of friends trap with an alien. I really did. I also liked how Noel Clarke came up with the idea and co-wrote this. Not just a pretty face, am I right? But what bothered me about the alien itself was that it bounced back and forth between CGI and makeup/fabrication. You all know me, I prefer the makeup/fabrication more than CGI. Although, when it came to the really gory parts I thought it was amazing. it didn’t matter if it was CGI or makeup/fabrication.

For example, Mark got his face chewed off by the alien. My response sown below…

All I have to say is that was Karma at it’s finest.

The other thing that bothered me was that there was this “sex scene”, if you can call it that, where the camera kinda zones in and out of their faces and hands and show then taking their jackets off. If you’re going to do that, please let it be for an actual sex scene! These two were just making out; dry humping wasn’t even involved! I hated that scene.

But the best part of the film is…….wait for it……..the black guy DOESN’T die!! You heard right! the Black Guy doesn’t die. He’s actually the one who saves the day! We need more of these situations in HOLLYWOOD.

All together, I was entertained. I wasn’t extremely impressed but this is a movie I would actually like to watch when I want to watch something fun.

Final Grade: C+

Shall We “Eat The Rude” Together?

0

A thousand apologies for not being able to live tweet during Penny Dreadful yesterday. I was a bridesmaid for my friend’s wedding. It was fun. The Maid of Honor got drunk and started crying, the speeches were tear-jerkers, we(the bridesmaids) had to hold the bride’s dress up so she could pee, and of course the food was delicious.

Speaking of food. How is everyone liking the premiere of our favorite cannibal? Since live tweeting is going to well with Penny Dreadful, I thought it would be fun to live tweet during Hannibal. So please check out TWITTER and join the conversation. I’m super excited for this season because the main story arc is going to be based off of Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon. If you have no idea what that entails then I suggest you pick up the book or watch the films “Red Dragon” with Edward Norton or “Manhunter” with William Peterson.

Check the following hashtags if you want to say hi!

Hope to see you there this Thursday. Don’t be late for dinner!

“A Tricky Treat” from an Alternate Universe!

0

A-TRICKY-TREAT-final-poster-WEB2

Director: Patricia Santos

Writer: Kamal John Iskander

Producer: Grace Santos

So I found this little piece of weirdness in my email. Damsel Cannibal wasn’t the only one who got it but she let me have this one to write about. She’s always looking out for what’s awesome.

Anyway, This short film was featured at the Fantasia International Film Festival and it is epically disgusting. But I say that in a good way. Have you guys ever find those funny pictures on the internet where it says “IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE” and there’s a picture of a tree chopping down a human being? “A Tricky Treat” is kinda like that. Starts out as a typical suburb family preparing for Halloween. Everyone is having an excellent time…except the poor helpless man in the basement. What could they want with this guy for Halloween?

At first this reminded me of a scene from another horror film called “Trick r’ Treat” where a suburb dad and his son carve a man’s head instead of pumpkins for Halloween. I was slightly disappointed thinking, “Oh this isn’t very original.” That is until I saw the ending…I’d love to spoil it for you but I think this is one you just have to watch in order to understand how gross yet awesome it is.

Sometimes mixing gore and humor can be a hit and miss but I thought that it was well done. My emotions changed from totally weirded out to having a giggle fit! Yes…through the blood and gore I was giggling like an insane person. Maybe I’m just a seriously unwell individual but that shit was funny. You’ll especially enjoy the ending.

I’m gonna shut up right now and offer you some websites to check out. I know that the director, writer, and producers are all award winners so I’m excited to dive into their work and see what else I can find the comment on.

Enjoy!

Our Crushed “Silent Hills” Dreams

0

This has to be one of the biggest disappointments of my gamer life. It was announced last year that there was going to be a new addition to the Silent Hill franchise with game designer Hideo Kojima. But that’s not what got my attention. What really had me hopeful about this game was the fact that Guillermo del Toro was taking part in the project. It also didn’t hurt that Norman Reedus was going to be in it too. My favorite horror director and one of my favorite actors in one video game?! Hell yes I wanna play!!

Even Damsel Cannibal was excited about the game. I can’t remember if she and her husband played the “Playable Teaser” or just watched a walkthrough on Youtube, but she loved the gore and the suspense. This is why were friends. We even had plans to film a reaction video for this blog. Sadly that’s one project that’s not going to happen.

From my understanding, Kojima(Metal Gear Solid) was having some sort of spat with the publisher Konami. It makes me sad when a great project like this has to suffer because two parties can’t come to a compromise. Long story short, Kojima is out and Silent Hills is dead and buried…………or is it?

Turns out that fans are hitting Change.org to petition Kojima to continue with the project. The petition has already hit over 18,000 signatures. In the petition, the writer also points out that if money is the issue fans may be more that willing to start a Kickstarter campaign to show their support. I doubt that this is going to help resurrect Silent Hills, but I think the gesture is amazing. Don’t underestimate fan power!

At the bottom of the page I’ll have a link to the petition in case you want to add your support.

Is there anyone here who has played the P.T.? How did you like it? Do you think the petition will help or is it just wishful thinking?
